The Halde Hoheward coal mine slag heap in the Ruhr area. It arose from fillings of the Recklinghausen II colliery, the Ewald colliery and the General Blumenthal/Haard colliery. Located between the cities of Herten and Recklinghausen, it forms the largest rewilded former industrial site in the Ruhr area. The highest point of the heap lies 152.5 metres above sea level. When the visibilty is good, the Rhine Tower in Düsseldorf, located at a distance of 50 kilometres, can be seen.
