How can you get the Canon color science in Capture One? First of all, you need an ICC camera profile which renders the colors and tonality in a way that gives your photos the “Canon look”.

The Canon EOS R6 Canon Picture Style ICC profiles for Capture One are designed to closely match the much acclaimed Canon Picture Styles provided by Canon’s proprietary Raw developing software Digital Photo Professional (DPP). The Canon Picture Style ICC profiles for Capture One save you a lot of effort and headaches trying to emulate the Canon color science in Capture One Pro. Your RAW images will have Canon’s cherished color science in one click!

The Canon EOS R6 Canon Picture Style ICC profiles for Capture One will help you to effortlessly develop your Canon RAW images in Capture One to emulate the look in Canon’s proprietary RAW converter Digital Photo Professional (DPP) and will also offer a great starting point and editing flexibilty if you have already created your own ways of styling your images in Capture One Pro. The accurate and realistic color rendition of your images in Capture One Pro will give a natural and professional look to your RAW images straight away.

My profiles are carefully created by camera sensor profiling with Luxli state-of-the-art lighting technology, achieving optimal mapping of the camera sensor color interpretation. They are a great timesaver in the  painstaking work to get the colors right in the post-production phase of your photography. 

The first profiles to launch are the Camera Standard and Camera Landscape profiles for the Canon EOS R5 and Canon EOS R6 cameras. The Camera Neutral Picture Style ICC profiles for both cameras are almost finished and will be released in the near future. After that I will complete the remaining profiles Camera Portrait and Camera Faithful, which are in the works. Further down the line, I plan to profile the newer Canon camera models for Capture One as well, including the Canon R5 Mark II and the Canon R1.

How to use the profiles?

A pdf-file is explaining the installation of the ICC profiles is included in the downloaded zip-file containing the ICC profile. Once installed in Capture One, the ICC profile is ready to use under the Base Characteristics tool. In the slideshow gallery below there are screenshot examples of the adjustments I do to RAW-files in Capture One to emulate the look of the Canon Picture Style in Capture One in Digital Photo Professional. They are also side by side comparisons of Capture One and Digital Photo Professional to show how good the colors and tonality match between both programs. The only tool adjustments needed to give the Canon Picture Styles colors in Capture One are visible in the screenshots. These are Curve, Levels, Exposure and High Dynamic Range. There are no color adjustments involved.  

At my main photography site chrisceder.art I have galleries showcasing hi-res RAW image samples of my Canon Picture Styles ICC profiles in use. Please keep in mind that jpeg conversion will lose a touch of the beautiful tonality and highly saturated hues when working straight on a RAW file in a 16-bit color space – the sRGB color space used for web images is restricted to 8-bit color – but the jpeg’s are mostly very close to the RAW file.
